The former water tower at the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak will be branded with a new logo over the next two weeks following a 515-gallon paint job along with a 30-foot-high vinyl wrap.
The new logo, in which the two Os in zoo are connected and different animals peak out, is a symbol of unity and exploration. The design was created by Donor, an ad agency in Southfield.
In addition, the Detroit Zoological Society today announced a new mobile app, redesigned websites, and new logos for the zoo, the society, and the Belle Isle Nature Zoo. The latter logo depicts two leaves meant to evoke connections between people and urban wildlife.
“We know the water tower is an iconic landmark in our community, and many people have a special connection to it,” says Hayley Murphy, executive director and CEO of the DZS. “We’ve heard so many stories of the joy people get, adults and children alike, when they see the water tower, whether they’re out and about in the community or heading to the Zoo for a visit. This new design will continue to spark that joy for years to come.”
The zoo also introduced an 18-foot-wide logo inside the park, which is ideal for photo opps. The two Os offer bench seating, as well.
